Following the recent update on Dan Hurley, the LA Lakers have an imposing reality check in front of them. After the early postseason exit, the LA side has set out on an uncertain journey in the NBA world. Apart from LeBron James‘ ticking time bomb, they have to fill the coaching job vacancy. When Rob Pelinka had a sigh of relief with the Dan Hurley update, 3x NBA Champion, Kevon Looney revealed a glimpse of the team’s troubling future.

In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, the Dubs star brought up the viral Lakers news. Looney joined the episode as the guest and shared his opinion on the affair. Draymond Green started establishing Hurley’s coaching and compared it to his college coach, Tom Izzo. He added, “As a player that actually played for a coach very similar to Dan Hurley which is like super intense… He would tell us like, ‘You suck at basketball Draymond, you stink… Your mother can play better than you.”

Following that, he posted an important question to Looney. Green asked, “Do you think that his intense style could translate to an NBA coach?” The Warriors center immediately denied and suggested that Hurley should “adjust” and find a balance. And further added, You can’t just be a dictator in the locker room.”

Given the history with Darvin Ham, the Lakers roster didn’t seem to have a great relationship with him. Especially with LeBron James, the centerpiece of the side, the team struggled to keep the franchise moving. While the Lakers relieved themselves of that trouble by dismissing Ham, it could turn out costly for the Lakers.

However, King James already seemed to giving his verdict on Dan Hurley’s selection. Describing Hurley’s offense plans, James shared a post, writing, “He’s so DAMN GOOD!!! Along with his staff. Super creative with their O! Love it.”

Kevon Looney dives in further, dropping suggestions for the Lakers

While Kevon Looney offered a solution for the Hurley situation by balancing his intense approach, he also shared a suggestion. The Dubs star took a trip to the Chase Center locker room for a moment and revealed Steve Kerr’s approach. Apart from the intense treatment from Kerr, the players also have their chance to express their opinions.

Looney added, “Sometimes you need to be collaborative like our film sessions. You (Draymond Green) might take over one day, or Chris Paul might take over… That will make our locker room special… the joy of knowing how to balance it out.”

Dan Hurley has had a successful career with UConn and recently won two back-to-back championships. Given the college players’ age, the coach has the privilege to keep the intensity throughout without disrupting the team. Whereas as an NBA coach, Hurley needs to tone down his approach, especially with superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the side.

Will Kevon Looney’s statement play a role in Hurley’s Lakers’ call-up? Will they move back to JJ Redick? Let us know in the comments below.
