After an impressive 8-2 kick-off to the season, the Denver Nuggets are now 10-4. The absence of Jamal Murray has undoubtedly posed challenges. However, the team’s chemistry has proven to be extraordinary; particularly in their recent clash with the Detroit Pistons. In a dramatic fashion, the game witnessed the ejection of both their championship-caliber coach Mike Malone, and star player Nikola Jokic.

Regardless, with proper synergy and timely moves, Denver still managed to secure a 107-103 victory. The win showcased resilience and teamwork as five players reached double digits in scoring. Currently, the Nuggets are second in their conference, trailing behind the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Nikola Jokic is the ace of poker faces

Michael Malone and the Denver Nuggets have recently finalized a contract extension; solidifying Malone as one of the NBA’s top-paid coaches. Nuggets’ star player, Nikola Jokic, gave a humorous response when asked questions about the same. Initially, Jokic suggests that Malone rarely engages with players, attributing that “money changes people.” Furthermore, he finishes by saying “He didn’t buy me any presents,” when asked about Malone’s changed demeanor.

Jokic’s joyful demeanor makes it clear that everything’s smooth sailing and he can’t be happier for the coach.

While Jokic and Malone are cheerful and share jokes for now, their mood could change depending on Jamal Murray’s injury concerns.

Jamal Murray will likely miss more games

Jamal Murray was a pivotal force in the Nuggets’ championship victory last season. However, he is currently out of the rotation due to a hamstring injury sustained on November 4th. His absence has left the Nuggets with a 4-3 record, with just one victory on the road since then.

Despite being injured, Murray has been an active presence, participating in team huddles and traveling with them. Nevertheless, it appears that Murray is set to miss the entirety of the current road trip for the Nuggets. Additionally, he will also be a miss during the final group stage match of the In-Season Tournament.

In their tourney, the Nuggets have a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. Looking ahead, they will square off against the Houston Rockets in the final leg of the group stage; following their regular-season matchup with the Orlando Magic.

However, the path to the knockout round is far from guaranteed for the Nuggets. Even if Denver secures a win against the Rockets, their advancement hinges on more. They must at least match the group record of the New Orleans Pelicans (or be better) and also surpass them in scoring differential.

Do you think they can make it out of the group stages? Or will last year’s NBA champions crash out of the In-Season Tournament?
