Trae Young Makes Amends For Major Magic Johnson Disrespect: “I’m Tripping”

Trae Young makes it up immediately after disrespecting the Lakers’ legend Magic Johnson. The Atlanta Hawks star guard never shied away from speaking his mind and making strong opinions. For instance, he didn’t hesitate before showing his disappointment over his All-Star starting line-up snub on social media. However, on this occasion, the 25-year-old immediately backtracked after realizing he had disrespected Magic.

In the latest episode of the From The Point Podcast, the host asked Young to name his top-5 All-Time passers in the league. The Hawks star immediately meant business and named a dynamic team. It included Steve Nash, John Stockton, Jason Williams, Chris Paul, and Nikola Jokić.

The host patiently waited for Young to complete and dropped a bomb by reminding him of Johnson. In response, Ice Trae jokingly said, “I’m tripping… Sorry, Jokic… You was waiting for me to be done, so I couldn’t say Magic. You got me.” And he didn’t stop at that. Young also shared the IG post on his stories and wrote, “Sorry Magic, I’m trippin,” with a laughing emoji.

Over the years, Trae Young has emerged as one of the leading point guards in the league with his insane ability to orchestrate plays. In the current season, he is only behind Tyrese Haliburton for the leading assists. He averaged whooping 10.8 assists per game, along with 26 PPG.

Apart from that, he has also been constantly compared to the legends from the past, especially, Magic Johnson.

Trae Young levels Magic Johnson’s record

Earlier this month, Young tied up with Magic Johnson’s record for consecutive games with at least 5 assists (154th game). It is also the third All-Time record in the NBA history. Following the game, Young acknowledged his feat and said, “That’s crazy… I never really thought about things like that… be on lists with guys like … Magic, and it’s just crazy. It’s just surreal.”

And, on another occasion, he pulled up Magic’s name himself a couple of years ago. Every loyal NBA fan would know the Luka Doncic-Trae Young beef. And, responding to the constant comparisons, Young amped it up with another legendary comparison, as per Bleacher Report. Reacting to the comparison, he said, “Like Magic and Bird…it can be something like that where we both can be great.”
