Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers star and current NBA MVP, may become the new face of Skechers’ basketball division. Despite the deal being negotiated, Embiid was spotted wearing Skechers’ shoes at a recent 76ers practice. Embiid once had a significant deal with Under Armour and produced remarkable collections. However, he’s no longer linked to the brand. While he’s preparing a new line with Skechers, the reason for parting ways with Under Armour is intriguing.

The 7’0 Center has been with the company since 2018, and in his wake, the brand has found a successor. Recently Under Armour announced its tie-up with the 6’8 Pacers Rookie.

Indiana Pacers Rookie Replaces Joel Embiid

Under Armour has officially signed Indiana Pacers rookie forward Jarace Walker. As a result, he is now part of their roster of NBA athletes, which includes two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry.

The 2023 eighth overall pick has received praise from veteran guard T. J. McConnell for his character and alignment with the team’s culture. Meanwhile, he has quickly connected with his teammates. Reflecting the community bond he aims to establish through his partnership with Under Armour. Walker appears to be an excellent fit for the Pacers.

“It means the world, honestly,” Walker said. He further added, “Just being from that city, the headquarters being in that city, and then I was always with the Baltimore team until college, really. Played AAU [in the] Under Armour circuit, went to IMG academy, an Under Armour school… It just felt like the right thing to do.”

The shoe company announced its association with the Rookie hours after Joel Emdiid’s rumored Sketchers move was reported by Shams Charnia. Yet fans are speculating why the reigning MVP left Under Armour.

What Led to the Sixers’ MVP leaving Under Armour?

A project that he had carefully initiated with hope has now concluded. Many speculations surround why Embiid decided not to continue with the brand. Apart from the recent termination of the Under Armour deal, there’s another factor to consider. Unlike Skechers, Embiid didn’t hold the same stature at Under Armour, where Stephen Curry took the spotlight.

It appears reasonable for him to choose a brand where he can be the primary athlete in the spotlight. However, we’ll need to wait a bit before seeing Embiid and Skechers unveil their collection.
