Former teammates who once fought for each other have reportedly turned on one another. It all happened on Friday, before the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat faced off in the summer league. Previously, Tyler Herro allegedly slammed his former teammate Bam Adebayo on social media, and the tensions led to the punch today.

“There was a physical altercation between Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro this morning at a hotel here in Vegas,” Chris Haynes reported on Prime. “I was able to speak with the Miami Heat, and they are aware of the incident and have no comment”

Veteran reporter Ira Winderman stated Herro’s response to the apparent altercation: “My only comment is no comment.”

Even Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins refused to comment. “Yeah, uhh… no comment,” said Jenkins. “I don’t really know all the specifics.”

Friday’s summer league matchup was supposed to be headlined by Miami’s dominant 119-86 victory over Milwaukee. Tyler Herro made an appearance at the game, watching a Bucks roster that had a new look, one that included Ryan Rollins, Ousmane Dieng, and a pair of ex-Heat faces in Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel’el Ware.

Notably absent from the sidelines at Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center was Bam Adebayo, and as it turns out, his absence wasn’t without explanation.

The Athletic reported that Tyler Herro instigated the incident, which culminated in Adebayo striking him. Multiple witnesses, speaking anonymously given the sensitivity of the situation, told the outlet that when Adebayo arrived at the courts, Herro directed words at him.

Bam then closed the distance and threw a punch without pause.

Herro’s AAU coach stepped in to confront Adebayo, while security ushered Herro away from the scene as he continued shouting at his former teammate.

Both men departed without assistance.

The incident unfolded in front of Herro’s own AAU squad, making the confrontation all the more uncomfortable for the new Buck.

Reports also confirmed that the Las Vegas Police Department was not called to the scene.

Why did a fight between Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo break out in the first place?

Just like Kevin Durant’s alleged burner account, even Tyler Herro is credited with using a secondary Instagram account, “@wonderdidit.”

The account also shared a graphic of the NBA’s lowest-percentage mid-range shooters featuring Bam Adebayo and new Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo, suggesting that their fit together is questionable. But apart from the story, the issue lies in a series of alleged DMs between Herro and a fan.

Because the new Bucks star criticized and mocked his former teammate Bam Adebayo without taking any names.

“You should get paid $60M to be a top tier defender on some nights? I’m just wondering.” Herro continued, “I’m just saying should an elite defender be making $60M a year?”

The fan apparently shared the screenshots, which obviously went and led to the situation we are in today. The Athletic’s findings that Herro provoked the confrontation only add to the damage for the newly minted Buck.

So far, the teams and the stars have offered no comment, but only time will tell the true story.
