Days after Joel Embiid’s knee injury, Tyrese Maxey opens up on his recovery. The Philadelphia 76ers star center Embiid has been subject to a lot of speculation since he sat out the Denver Nuggets game. It blew so much out of proportion that even superstar LeBron James pitched in for his support.
Now his teammate, Maxey, revealed about Embiid’s recovery and said he talked to him over a phone call. “His spirit is as good as anybody’s who is hurt or who is going through something. But he’s been great,” he said.

Maxey further revealed the message that Joel Embiid shared. The Sixers star added, “He called me. He congratulated me. He texted us and told us to go out there and be successful, try to win games.” Embiid has been ruled out of the team for the upcoming few games owing to a lateral meniscus injury. During his last game against the Golden State Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga fell on his legs while going after a loose ball.
Following the injury, Embiid has missed two consecutive games and he can only miss three more games in the remaining season to keep his MVP dream alive. As per the new rules laid down by the league, a player should at least play 65 games in a season to be qualified for the MVP title. The reigning MVP has already missed 14 games.
Leaving the injury break aside, the controversy around Embiid began when he sat two games during the road stretch. The team cited left knee swelling as the reason. However, the league wasn’t happy as they opened an investigation stating that the team was late to update the injury report.
