We had one of our biggest sporting nights through the UFC 300 tournament, didn’t we? Despite rampant speculations earlier that it was going to be canceled, former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and 35-year-old Justin Gaethje descended onto the octagon ring. Holloway called his opponent into the center of the ring and delivered a series of blows during the final 4 seconds to knock Gaethje down. By delivering one of the wildest knockouts in the history of the UFC, the 32-year-old finally managed to secure the “BMF” title. Everyone’s eyes were on Holloway’s feat during the event, and a few from the NBA fraternity didn’t hesitate to send out their live reactions during the same.

A few minutes ago, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns took to his official X account to highlight his amazement. The former UFC featherweight champion’s viral move was enough to warrant a reaction from the NBA player, who simply wrote “OMG (emoji) #UFC300” to be viewed by his 724,900 followers and countless others!

The Timberwolves player wasn’t the only one to applaud at Halloway’s knockout move. Former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson also couldn’t hold his excitement and proceeded to highlight the historical moment on his feed.

Soon after, it didn’t take long for social media users to flood in as well. A fan proceeded to draw a comparison between Martial Arts and Boxing, highlighting his opinion that only one of them could give him the desired thrill.

As it turns out, the comments section was not just filled with UFC enthusiasts. A couple of individuals who may have been keeping a close tab on the ongoing NBA season also made their voices heard. One of them used Karl-Anthony Towns’ reaction to set a benchmark for him and the Timberwolves, justifying how they should perform during the upcoming playoff tournament.

Another individual, who may or may not have had his share of viewing UFC fights over the years, proceeded to give the ultimate ‘greatest’ honor as the fight drew to a close.

Others shared their general reaction after standing in awe of Holloway’s move that left Gaethje face down and unconscious on the mat.

Mesmerized? Yes, that’s probably an apt word to leave behind while viewing the fanbase’s reaction to the epic fight. Cross-sport/domain connections are always fascinating, and we see them more than often between the NBA and rap scene. However, in this scenario, Holloway just recently spoke about the NBA, in fact about a renowned player who’s been having his best season.

Max Holloway sent his flowers to Kawhi Leonard before his big fight

Through his above comment, Karl-Anthony Towns highlighted just how big of a UFC fan he is. However, it is safe to say that Max Holloway has also never shied away from highlighting his interest in the NBA. The same was seen merely a few days before the champion’s big fight. During UFC 300’s ‘Media Day’, Holloway was captured holding the iconic Larry O’Brien Championship trophy.

“This is sick,” said Holloway whilst holding the trophy in his hands. “All I know Raptors got their name on this….come on, brother”. When asked who the UFC fighter thinks of when holding the ultimate NBA achievement for an aspiring player, the latter instantly replied, “I think of Leonard, Kawhi hitting that on the corner,  on the Sixers. That was a crazy game. That was insane. This is nuts”.

Kawhi Leonard was only with the Toronto Raptors for one season. He had scored the game-deciding basket against the Sixers, a series that went right to the wire, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference SF in 2019. It was a memorable year as they lifted their only NBA championship.
