Beef among UFC fighters is common because it serves as a build-up and sets the stage for the big fight. However, UFC’s Welterweight division fighter Colby Covington took the beef outside the sport and directed it at the NBA’s LeBron James. That’s a huge leap, but what could have been the reason?

Well, during Bron’s oldest son Bronny’s USC debut game, Papa James did not stand up for the national anthem, and Colby wasn’t too impressed with this. Some speculate that Bron did not stand up because he did not want to attract any attention, but Colby wasn’t having any of it. He called out the 4x NBA Champion and told him to leave America. But Colby wasn’t always antagonistic toward King James.

Colby was a fan of LeBron James 7 years ago

The internet is forever, and once you post something, it will stay there forever. Well, it turns out that Colby shared a specific post on X (then known as Twitter) in 2016, and it paints a completely different picture contrary to the hate he has been sending toward Bron. The post was short and to the point, “What. A. Game. Congrats to Lebron and Cleveland. #nbafinals”

In 2016, Bron won his third Championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Colby was fanboying for King James back then. Clearly, Bron lost a fan because the former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion doesn’t feel the same about Bron anymore. After all, he did not hold back from calling him a coward.

During the recent UFC296 press conference, Colby went off at LeBron. He took a direct jab at Bron and told him to leave America if he hated the country so much, “If you hate America so much and you don’t like this country that gave you a billion dollars, leave it or come deal with me.” Colby continued, “F*** you, Lebron James, you’re a coward. You’re a spineless coward and you’re a b****.”

LeBron hasn’t responded to any of Colby’s taunts, and it is unlikely he will. Bron is having the best time of his life right now, having won the IST Championship along with securing the Tournament’s MVP title. Plus, his oldest son, Bronny, has finally made his collegiate basketball debut after suffering a cardiac arrest just a few months prior. And he surely won’t allow Colby’s one-sided beef to rain on his parade.
