“Getting off social media for the time being. Y’all take care”. Since this remark was put out by LeBron James on X, over three weeks ago, his social media presence has gone down to zero. Not just X, but even a story is not being put out by the Lakers superstar on Instagram. Such a long hiatus would have given the athlete a break from going through the hateful comments on the internet. Now, however, his promise is preventing him from celebrating a memorable milestone in his son’s career.

But not Savannah James! Highlighting her son’s stats on her Instagram story, Vannah needed no words to make her point. The numbers did it for her. Making his road game debut, the former Trojan scored a G-League career-high 30 points!

While the South Bay Lakers lost by 100-106, Bronny took the offensive charge. He went 13-23 with his shooting from the field, 3-9 with his three-pointers, and 1-3 with his free throws. On top of that, he accompanied his high score with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. We don’t have to remind you that Bronny’s first three games with the team weren’t too memorable. After all, he averaged only 8.7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, through a 26.3 minutes average.

But coming back to the topic at hand, with Mrs. James’ shoutout to her oldest, she may have also helped LeBron maintain his social media break streak given that a tweet or post has yet to come from the 39-year-old’s side. For those of you who might miss Savannah’s story, here’s the Sportscenter post that she shared on her story update.

Unsurprisingly, no sooner had LeBron James announced his break when people started asking: Why?

Just as he has on most of the trending issues in the NBA, renowned sportscaster Stephen A. Smith chose to share his thoughts on this too.

Stephen A. Smith puts LeBron James on the stand thanks to his social media stunt

He initially highlighted his viewpoint as a question to be answered by fans when he stated, “LeBron James electing to get off of social media. Is that because of you, LeBron James, or is it because of your son, Bronny James, and his struggles?”

Smith indicated that LeBron James hyped up his son so much before his NBA entry that a toxic narrative formed around his abysmal performances. Furthermore, Smith also drew attention to the fact that during 20 years of an NBA tenure, people personally attacked LeBron from time to time.

That, however, was not enough to keep him off social media. The fact that he dropped off when Bronny started getting attacked raised the sportscaster’s eyebrows. “So we understand that LeBron James has received a heightened level of scrutiny, but we also understand that he’s fully capable of taking and absorbing it and stomaching it,” Smith asked. “So why step away now?”

Fortunately, through his recent performance, Bronny James is building towards shutting down the same toxic narrative. Whether fans will get to see more of such bursts of outstanding performances from his side is something that remains to be seen.

But who knows, if the young player continues at the same pace, then LeBron may very well return to social media soon!
