Team USA’s 2023 FIBA World Cup run ended in dismay. Despite fielding a team of young, talented players, the USA failed to clinch even a single medal, finishing in fourth place. In light of this, NBA legend LeBron James reportedly showed an interest in joining the 2024 Paris Olympics to redeem the USA’s lost glory. The King is actively recruiting other NBA superstars to join him in his venture to clinch gold at the summer games. However, the USA was not the only team that faced a disheartening exit.

The reigning Olympic silver medalist, France too failed to qualify even for the second round after getting stunned by Latvia and Canada. In this wake, 7’5 Victor Wembanyama steps up to help Les Bleus win the gold, incidentally standing in the way of LeBron James proving Noah Lyles wrong.

Team France crashed out of title contention and finished 18th in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. This did not seem to sit well with the Le Chesnay native. The San Antonio Spurs big man had missed the World Cup to prepare for his rookie season, but it appears like he can represent France at the Olympics this summer.

Wemby is a serious challenge to LeBron James and Co.

Wemby’s intention to triumph in the 2024 Paris Olympics might pose a threat to LeBron James’s dream team. The two-time Olympian is reportedly recruiting superstar players to have his ‘last dance’ with Team USA. This comes on the heels of the NBA being heavily trolled for their ‘world champions’ moniker. Noah Lyles questioned the validity of hailing the NBA victors as ‘world champions’ when they have not competed for that title on an international stage.

Lyles received a massive hit back from the NBA world for his controversial comments. But it seems like he had the last laugh after Canada stunned the USA in a 127-118 overtime victory. Wemby’s confirmation could very well squash Team USA’s efforts to prove the track and field superstar Noah Lyles wrong.
