Fans were taken aback when LeBron James came up with a peculiar nickname for the French phenomenon, Victor Wembanyama. This dates back to when the budding star didn’t enter the realm of the NBA. Looking at Wemby’s skinny, towering stature, LeBron was convinced that the nickname “Alien” fits perfectly with him. Witnessing Wembanyama display his extraordinary potential in his rookie season, fans can now see through the Lakers star’s vision. And those of you who are still not convinced should watch his recent video.

There was no doubt about his worth as the Rookie of the Year last season, but Wemby had set his aspirations higher. Had Rudy Gobert not gone home with the Defensive Player Of the Year award, the title would likely have ended up with the youngster. At least that’s what his statistics suggest. Wemby grabbed 10.6 rebounds on average last season, coupled with 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals. Even with these spectacular numbers, he couldn’t get the DPOY.

However, according to BetMGM, Wemby is the favorite to win the DPOY next season. He’s the clear favorite with -200 odds. The Frenchman has the eighth-best odds (+2000) to bag the MVP title. It’s no wonder then, that he started his “alien”-like preparations early. It appears that Wemby has no intention of letting the opportunity slip away and is locked in. Stunned by the 20-year-old’s exercises, the NBA community gathered in the comment section to drop their reactions.

“He can do alien stretches” – Fans react to Victor Wembanyama’s out-of-this-world workout

In the short video, Victor Wembanyama showcases his flexibility through various stretching exercises. Amazed by his workout, fans could only express themselves with the word “wow” or by using the emoji.

One fan stated, “At least we know he never injuring his back, he can do alien stretches.” Last season, Wemby suited up for the Spurs 71 times, missing only eleven games, mostly because of his ankle injuries. However, with the impressive muscle flexibility displayed in the video, Wembanyama reduces the chances of serious injury. The fan certainly seems to think so.

Another fan pointed out his similarity with a “praying mantis.” Although the exact reason is unknown, it can be figured out that it had something to do with his towering, lean stature. Being the tallest active player in the league comes with its challenges but Wemby has turned these into advantages. His height plays a huge role in helping him maintain his versatility on the hardwood. Despite many worrying about his slender physique, he didn’t let it affect his game. Rather, he uses it as his USP.

The Spurs center will join his teammates on October 3 at their camp to begin training. But looking at how Wemby is taking things one step further before the official training, he might pose a serious threat for those vying for the DPOY title.
