The European basketball scene heats up whenever FIBA tournaments roll in. French Rudy Gobert has been also actively hooping and preparing for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. His three-point shooting videos are going viral. In a Stephen Curry-esque moment, he nailed a half-court shot. Apart from that, he has engaged in heart-melting moments.

One of these moments came during the recent World Cup preparation games.

Rudy Gobert makes his fan’s day

The French national team recently played Lithuania in a practice game before the World Cup which will begin in less than two weeks. After the game, the terrific inside player met one of his fans backstage. Lola, his superfan, has a rare hereditary genetic disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

As Rudy Gobert enters the area around Lola, she brims with happiness and can’t hold her emotions back. The 7’1” Center is at a loss for words and is overwhelmed seeing the reaction. Since the soundtrack of a piano is playing the video of the beautiful event,  it is difficult to hear what he is saying to the girl who is wearing a Jordan logo T-shirt.

At any rate, it is difficult to describe Lola’s emotions in words, considering the flow of tears. Donning a pair of white sneakers and sitting in her wheelchair, the kid receives Gobert’s autograph and gleams with brightness further. During the photoshoot, the former Utah Jazz Center exudes a lovely smile during a photoshoot and a French flag in her lap. The “rim protector” has his right hand on her shoulder.

The Timberwolves Center gave Lola the memory of her lifetime. This moment is so emotionally charged that it can invoke a lot of affectionate reactions.

As he provides a bundle of joy to someone who adores him, the Center will have his work cut out in a few days.

France’s campaign begins on 24 August

A tough game to start the proceedings. The French national team will have their work cut out when they will meet Canada in their opening fixture. With a lineup of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, Lu Dort, Dillon Brooks, Nickel Alexander-Walker, Kelly Olynyk, and Dwight Powell, the Canadian squad is stacked. Their perimeter defense looks tight and they are bound to cause difficulties on the offensive end. Their recent game against the Germans proved how hard they fight as they won in the last seconds.

Containing Gilgeous-Alexander is going to be an unenviable task. Therefore, France will need a lot of help defense from Gobert. Without his help defense, the inside drives will open up pretty quickly and the team will risk being beaten both from inside and outside.
