Co-parenting goals? That’s what a lot of people think. A picture of Memphis Grizzles player Derrick Rose from eight months ago is currently going viral. Why? Because it features both his wife and his ex-girlfriend along with him. Their three children can also be seen posing in the image.

Rose is currently married to Alaina Anderson. They got engaged in October 2021 and married in September 2023. The couple has two children: daughter Layla Malibu and son London Marley Rose, as visible in the viral picture. However, the athlete has an older son, Derrick Rose Jr. with his ex, Mieka Reese.

Thus, social media users were a bit shocked to see the whole family together. Were they celebrating an occasion? Yes! Back in August 2023, Derrick Rose Jr. started his fifth grade, and the parents were proud of it. Reese took to Instagram to share pictures of her son and captioned it, “Official 5th grader!!” So the family got together to congratulate the young lad, who is lovingly also called ‘PJ’.

These blended family dynamics recently caught the attention of social media users as the images resurfaced. ‘Daily Loud’ shared the images on its X (formerly Twitter) account.

A few X users loved how the whole family came together to celebrate Derrick Rose Jr’s important milestone. In fact, Jr. is quite close to his half-siblings. The young boy has 180k followers on Instagram and has posted several images with his younger siblings.

Many of them shared their surprise over the fact that the 35-year-old had not one but two women involved in his life. Another user chose to go to the very old ‘having a wife is troublesome’ joke road and stated his astonishment at how Rose could handle being in such a situation.

If fans thought that the above picture was just a sole example of how well Derrick’s wife Alaina and ex Mieka get together, then they would be wrong. The duo have often taken to their official social media accounts to highlight the few moments that they spent with the NBA star together. Such a moment went viral a while ago as well.

Back in December 2022, Mieka took to her official Instagram account to share a video with her followers. It featured her hanging out with her son as they enjoyed a night of snacks and UNO. A brief moment from the clip highlighted her and Alaina donning the same Barbie Pyjamas. “Don’t be hating — let me see the length,” said Mieka when asking Alain to show off her hair. “It’s giving!”

One fan was in awe of how well the two ‘baby mommas’ got along. They were impressed by the fact that not only did they choose to pose off in the same frame but also didn’t mind donning the same T-shirt in support of their son and stepson.

There has often been a reported stigma that a former couple can’t be in the same room together after their separation, even for their children’s sake. Derrick Rose and Mieka have shown themselves to be the exception to this ‘rule’, which X users did not shy away from highlighting.

In fact, years ago, when Rose was in deep waters because of a sexual assault allegation against him, Mieka Reese stood in support of him. Additionally, in 2016, when the Chicago Bulls were having a difficult season, Reese publically defended Rose. “Everybody has an opinion about him, but who WANTS or ASK to be hurt! Another user engaged in quite a unique thought process upon taking a glimpse at the photo. Through their comment, they highlighted that, unlike some other former couples, Rose and his ex-girlfriend took the right approach by not exposing their situation to the workings of a courtroom. “That’s how it should be. Spend your money on the family, not the courts,” they wrote.

The dynamic that Derrick Rose has established with his ex-girlfriend in serving as co-parents while not being together is something that fans felt worthy enough to highlight their support for.
