Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards delivered a monstrous performance during his team’s third consecutive playoff win against the Phoenix Suns. During his 43 minutes on the court, the player proceeded to drop 36 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. This was his highest points total since the last 5 games. The Suns, nevertheless, attempted to keep an equal footing with their rivals, but the partnership of Edwards and Mike Conley put the Wolves up 59-53 at halftime. By the time the minutes concluded, the Timberwovles held a 126 against their rival’s 109.

In the aftermath of the win, the MVP game proceeded to engage in a Q & A session with ESPN reporter Scott Van Pelt. During the same, the player was asked about his ‘mentality’ during the course of the game. Edwards responded by stating “I just want to kill everything in front of me. That’s the main thing, pretty much. That’s all there is to it.”

Edwards proceeded to make 12-23 field goals, 1-5 three pointers and all 11-11 free throw attempts during the game. All the while he was playing in Kevin Durant and co’s home turf at the Footprint Center in Arizona. Days after speaking out about how he wanted to get the best of Devin Booker during the playoffs, the 2x NBA All-Star has now put the Suns into their most difficult position probably since the beginning of the tournament. Kevin Durant and his roster will now have to win all three of their remaining playoff games, including an additional one, if they wish to proceed to the next stage of the tournament. One more loss, and there will be no place to go in the tournament but out.
Anthony Edwards celebrated the inevitable win ‘DX-Style’
Prior to Edwards’ above-mentioned remark, former basketball player Kendrick Perkins gave his own reaction to the game by taking to X. Perkins wrote that “Anthony Edwards ain’t asking or waiting for the torch to be passed. He walked into Kevin Durant’s house, snatch that mf off the table and walked out the front door”. Even before the game ended, fans knew that the win was going to land into the hands of Minnesota. Edwards knew this as well, causing him to engage in an action that may make him susceptible to a fine in the future.

During the final 3 minutes of the game, the Timberwolves led their rivals by 17 points. As Rudy Gobert successfully added two more points to the overall total, the cameras caught a glimpse of Anthony Edwards making a “s**k it” gesture by using his arms to point to his lower abdomen area. The move was made popular by ‘D-Generation X’, a wrestling group primarily associated with the WWE.
While the moment would have created laughs for many, the same may not be the case in the close future. It wasn’t that long ago when Joel Embiid was fined $20,000 for making that same gesture during a clash against the Denver Nuggets. While Edwards wasn’t penalized for his action as it happened, further action could be taken on the same.

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves roster’s hard work is paying off. The team has come one step closer to heading to Conference Finals and, if lucky, all the way to the finals.
