It’s Friday night! This means it’s time for another In-Season game night. The Warriors and the Spurs have not yet met in the regular season, but tonight they will go head-to-head as part of the In-Season Tournament group stage. The Dubs have a bigger wager in the game because if they win tonight, it means one step closer to advancing to the next round.

That boat has already sailed for the Spurs, who have lost all hopes of advancing, standing at o-3. Despite the circumstances, securing a win for either team would boost morale as both the Warriors (7-9) and the Spurs (3-12) are in a slump, especially San Antonio, who have lost ten back-to-back games in the regular season. As both teams gear up for their first face-off, let us look at the expected lineups.

On the Warriors front, we can expect the lineup to be Stephen Curry (PG) and Chris Paul (SG), Klay Thompson (SF) Andrew Wiggins (PF), and Kevon Looney at the center. Draymond Green is still serving his five-game suspension penalty for putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold during their 104-101 losing game against the T-Wolves. On the injury list, we have Gary Payton II (foot) and he is probable for tonight’s game.

As opposed to the Warriors, the Spurs boast a young team. They will have a strong first five comprising Devin Vassell (SG) and Jeremy Sochan (PG), Victor Wembanyama (PF), Keldon Johnson (SF), and big man Zach Collins taking the center. The Spurs boast an injury-free roster this time and are all set to claim a win tonight.

The Spurs could really use a win right about now

It does not matter if the Spurs win or lose tonight, because they have already lost their chance of making it to the next round, but a win tonight could give them much-needed reassurance after falling to the bottom of the West Conference. They are coming off a 109-102 loss against the Clippers. On the other end, the Warriors are also coming off a 123-115 loss at the hands of the Suns.

As the Warriors host the Spurs at the Chase Center tonight, they still have a chance of climbing to the top of the West Group C, provided they win tonight. Given the T-Wolves and the Kings falter in one or both of their games. Standing at a record of 1-1 in the Group Play stage, the Dubs have to win this game and the next in order to advance.
