They have cherry-picked bigs who are going to bring new dynamics to this team. LeBron, who sat out the game against the Warriors, made his preseason foray against the Brooklyn Nets. And he has begun exactly from where he left off last season.

Anthony Davis is a reluctant big. That is why this addition of a new Seven-footer to the Laker’s roster would relieve him from some key duties, and keep him fresh for the playoffs.

Earlier, he would have to think twice before involving Anthony Davis for the same. But now he has Jaxson Hayes’s athleticism and LeBron’s precision to design those intricate plays. Last season, especially in the Conference finals, the Lakers had a tough time guarding and countering the Denver Nuggets’ length. That will no longer be an issue, as they have Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood to fill that gap.

Anthony Davis never likes to be called a center for two reasons. First, he has all the moves of a guard, which he wouldn’t be able to use if they restrict him to the paint. Second, he is very injury-prone, and should not be taking those beatings under the rim contesting with other big men. Not only that, a center like Jaxson Hayes should be able to replicate what Dwight Howard brought to the table.

With the league coming hard against load management, it would be the responsibility of the teams to protect their superstars. Thus, all the aging stalwarts of the league should be very judicious with their playing time. And the rest of the roster should shoulder their responsibility.
