It has been a month of outrageously high NBA contracts. From Tyrese Haliburton, Fred VanVleet, to many other stars around the league, secured major deals with their respective franchises. Ever since the start of NBA Free Agency, the Charlotte Hornets have been quite active with their dealings. Billionaire NBA legend Michael Jordan sold his majority stakes in the franchise a few weeks ahead of free agency. He made sure to close some deals before leaving.
One deal happened to be LaMelo Ball’s contract extension. After securing a major extension, the former All-Star made an honest money confession on Instagram.

Michael Jordan has won every accolade in the game of basketball. The Chicago Bulls legend has also found massive success in the business world and is currently a billionaire. However, his time as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets was nowhere close to the successes he has achieved in life.

21-year-old LaMelo Ball was the brightest spark in the Hornets team in the latter years of Jordan’s ownership. This was right before he sold his majority stakes for a huge profit.

With electrifying plays and brilliant numbers on the court, Melo is the future of the franchise. The Hornets also recognize the former All-Star as their future, as they recently offered him a massive contract extension. The 2021 Rookie of the Year signed a 5-year, $260 million contract.

Weeks after securing the biggest contract of his life, Ball made an honest confession on Instagram. He shared a reel on his Instagram story in which the host asks his guests what they would do if they were offered a million dollars.
One of them answers they would be extremely grateful. Moreover, the host also asked if that money would ever put them in a ‘bad mood’ to which the guests honestly answered, no.

It looks like LaMelo Ball agrees with them. Sharing this reel to his massive 10 million-plus followers on the platform, he wrote, “Real Lifee”. Being one of the highest earners in the league currently, Melo certainly will not be in a bad mood anytime soon!
Ball revealed his reasoning behind the contract extension
Prior to his massive extension, there were a number of teams keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. However, he was determined to succeed with the Hornets, at least for the next 5 years.

“The decision, it wasn’t really hard. All my years here, I’ve had a good time. Life wasn’t bad,” said Ball.
Interestingly, he also confessed that things are not going that well on the court. However, he is healthy currently and has a good young core around him. With good coaching and determination, the Hornets can push for a playoff spot this season.
