The Golden State Warriors recently faced off against the Houston Rockets. Having already built a strong momentum, the Warriors were looking to utilize their offensive lineup to secure their sixth consecutive win. Thanks to the efforts of players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson (29 points each), the team was successful in doing so by establishing a dominant score of 133-110. The win, however, came at a cost, as the Warriors small forward Andrew Wiggins seemed to have gotten himself involved in an injury during the 3 quarter.

Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr addressed certain media members during the post-game press conference. When discussing the starting lineups, the coach mentioned Wiggins after touching base on how many of their players have faced injuries in the past few games. “He tweaked his ankle” said Kerr. “Not bad, though”. Wiggins was on the court for 23 minutes. While he did not manage to reach the same scoring prowess as his teammates, the player still ended up dropping 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Wiggins had a great start to his performance by delivering a dunk after Draymond Green passed the ball to him. While he may not have stayed till its conclusion, he would have rejoiced because they just moved a step closer to securing a spot in the play-in series, if not the playoffs.

Other than Steve Kerr’s statement, there has still not been any official update on the 29-year-old’s condition. With the Warriors set to face off against Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks next, the roster will be hoping to include one of their lead scorers for the high-stakes game.

Andrew Wiggins has been one of the most consistent players for the Warriors this season, having appeared in 66 of their 75 matchups. However, he has been easily prone to injuries and has had to opt out of some crucial games.

In November 2023, Wiggins was suddenly seen getting downgraded on the Injury Report before his team’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. The reason: the player had accidentally slammed the car door on his right index finger. After putting himself in a shootaround before the game, Wiggins’ condition was not seen as suitable enough, causing him to opt-out. While it didn’t take him long to recover from the same, the 2022 NBA champion found himself back on the Injury Report in February.

After a collision with Atlanta Hawks player Clint Capela, the player ended up twisting his left ankle. After hopping to the sidelines at halftime, Wiggins was eventually ruled out from the rest of the game as well.

The same ankle injury has once again come to haunt the NBA player. Until an official update is provided by Wiggins or the Warriors, all that the fans can do is hope for good news.
