What Happened To Giannis Antetokounmpo? Bucks Struck With Massive Scare Amidst Worrying Form

The Milwaukee Bucks have serious trouble ahead of the postseason. Amid the team’s recent slump in form, they have a massive injury scare with their superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Tonight, the Bucks hosted the Boston Celtics and dominated the top-seeding side throughout the first three quarters, until Giannis found himself on the floor. Around the 3rd-minute mark in the 3rd quarter, the Greek Freak was in immense pain while moving up the court. Notably, the superstar had no contact before it.
Following that, Doc Rivers immediately called timeout, and the teammates helped him off the floor and he headed to the locker room. The Bucks stepped on the court tonight with a four-game losing streak. Three of the losses came against teams like the Raptors, Grizzlies, and Wizards, which are below .500. Even though the Wisconsin team is currently in the second seed of the East Conference, they haven’t had a steady run since the entry of Doc Rivers.

In the 33 games, Rivers has managed to convert only 16 wins, leaving a concerning sign ahead of the playoff. On top of it, the team has another worrying sign as Giannis Antetokounmpo walked off the court in pain with only days left for the postseason!
In the 2023 playoffs, the top-seeding Bucks lost their way in the first round to the Miami Heat. In that series, Giannis suffered a back contusion, and the Heat took early advantage of it. Will the Bucks face a similar tragedy this year? Only the severity of the injury can decide the Bucks’ fate.
However, the Bucks managed to seal tonight’s game in the absence of their superstar. The Celtics, without Kristaps Porzingis, struggled to find buckets and couldn’t chase down the Bucks’ total. Patrick Beverley recorded 20 points, and 10 rebounds to lead the team to a comfortable 104-91 win.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: Injury update
After walking off the court late in the third quarter, Giannis didn’t return to the game. When the superstar was on the floor in pain, he was holding onto his left calf. The NBA insider Shams Charania just confirmed that the superstar has a calf strain. A recent video revealed that the superstar walked off the arena himself, a positive sign.

A calf strain can be a serious affair for the Bucks as the player can either come back within days or they could even miss multiple weeks. The Bucks superstar might undergo an MRI scan to determine the severity of the strain. For instance, during the 2019 NBA semi-finals, Kevin Durant suffered a calf strain. The scan revealed that it was a Grade 1 injury. He returned to the floor on the game. Unfortunately, later in the Finals, he ruptured his entire Achilles tendon.
