In basketball, players routinely use their bodies to their advantage by adapting their bodies to fight for position. The frequent use of ankle strength, forearms, and elbows leads to frequent injuries on the court. However, all injuries are not on-court, since players tend to have highly active off-court lives.
Likewise, the Toronto Raptors’ small forward sustained an injury while being off-court, and it’s a rather unique injury to the franchise. OG Anunoby is under the radar amidst an injury scare and is on the potential trade list of James Harden’s former team. Will the player call it quits with the team that drafted him?

OG Anunoby down with a finger laceration
The Raptors are about to face the Washington Wizards tonight at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The 26-year-old forward popped up as questionable with a right-finger laceration owing to a strange reason. Tonight might only be the second game that he would have to miss this season after playing against the Boston Celtics in the last game.

The reason cited was a finger cut while performing household chores. Blake Murphy, an analyst for the Raptors, was the one who broke the news. This news has taken the headlines while the Philadelphia 76ers are planning a potential trade for the forward to fill that one missing piece on their roster.
76ers trying to lure OG Anunoby for a trade
‘Baby Kawhi’ has been with the Raptors for 7 seasons, ever since he was picked 23rd in the 2017 NBA draft. Since the NBA is buzzing with trade rumors left and right, Anunoby seems to be the center of attention for the Philadelphia 76ers. Citing what took place in Fred VanVleet’s contract extension case, the Raptors should be concerned about the situation. As the contract situation essentially prohibits the 26-year-old forward from signing an extension with Toronto, fans are unsure about Player’s loyalty to the franchise. After all, VanVleet faced the same situation and later hopped on the Houston Rockets to have a lucrative bet on his play.

What if the Sixers follow the exact same strategy deployed by the Rockets to lure VanVleet? In that case, the Raptors have to go overboard to retain a player as good on defense as OG. However, the fact still holds that it might be a financially impossible situation for Toronto to keep both OG and Pascal Siakam while giving Scottie Barnes a meaty extension.

As long as Nick Nurse is desperate to bring in that missing ‘piece’ to cover up Philly’s defense, the Raptors have to be cautious about the trade-off. However, right now, it’s the unique injury that’s up on the charts for the team.
