Luguentz “Lu” Dort, a rising star for the Oklahoma City Thunder, has proven that resilience and determination can pave the way to success. Born on April 19, 1999, in Montreal, Quebec, Dort made waves as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year at Arizona State University. Though he went undrafted in 2019, his journey took a remarkable turn when he signed a two-way contract with the Thunder, eventually cementing his role as a key player for the team.

All this while, being in the spotlight as an NBA star, Lu has still managed to keep his personal life quite private. His Instagram account, majorly filled with updates about his life as a professional athlete is a good example of this. Regardless of the player’s urge to keep personal things on the low, fans can’t help but wonder what goes on in his dating life. Is Lu Dort seeing someone? If yes, who’s the lucky woman?

Is Lu Dort dating? OKC Thunder star’s relationship status revealed

Since his proper rise to fame and induction in the All-NBA Defensive First Team, Dort might’ve started to let a little loose. Seeing a couple of posts from his Instagram, Dort’s done more than just confirm his relationship status. On February 15th, he even announced his pregnancy with his partner, Melina. And that was the first we ever saw of anything to do with his personal life.

But that’s about all there is to it. Neither Dort nor his partner has given interviews or shared additional information about their relationship, her background, or their plans as a family. So why don’t we talk about the professional part of his life?

Balancing the Game and Giving Back: Lu Dort’s Dual Focus

It’s clear that Dort is extremely private about his personal life. But it’s also easy to see why. As a professional athlete who’s still in the early stages of his career, it’s likely that Dort wants to focus on his growth as a player. Over the course of 23 games he played for the Thunder in the 2024-25 regular season, he averaged 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals assists per game.

Apart from his basketball career, Lu is focused on giving back to the community he came from. In an interview, he said, “I feel like Montreal is an underdog city, and there’s so much talent that people don’t know.” And it’s not just words, in 2022 he launched ‘Maizon Dort Foundation’  dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged youth in Montreal, Oklahoma City, and central Arizona.

These communities have made me the player and person I am today. With the platform I have now, I want to do everything I can to give back. I want to make sure that children and families in underserved communities are given equal opportunities and support to achieve their dreams.” said Dort at the launch of his foundation.
