A look at Pete Nance’s college and professional career
Pete Nance’s journey tipped off back in Ohio, where he hooped for Revere High School. After a successful high school career, the Akron native committed to playing for the Northwestern Wildcats, declining serious offers from the likes of Michigan and Ohio State. The power forward instantly hit the ground running with the Wildcats, but he really started making an impact for the team during his sophomore year. Nance averaged 8.5 points along with six rebounds in his second season for Northwestern.
Then, the six-foot-ten star’s next seasons were even better. So much so that he even tried to declare for the NBA Draft in 2022, but with limited interest, decided to return to college basketball and transferred to North Carolina. Pete Nance entered his fifth season of collegiate basketball thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic granting athletes an extra year of eligibility.
However, Nance’s return wasn’t as expected as he struggled a bit with a back injury. Nonetheless, he still managed to average 10 points and 6 rebounds in 30 games for the Tar Heels. After this, he finally decided to declare for the NBA Draft once again in 2023, but went undrafted. But that did not mean that NBA teams weren’t interested in the talented forward.
