The Dallas Mavericks have continued to maintain their status as one of the best teams in the modern NBA during the ongoing season. Despite having some initial setbacks, they have reignited the trust of fans and analysts by winning 12 of their last 14 games. Much of this success can be attributed to the team’s star scorer Luka Doncic, whose already impressive stats have only improved this year. In his last 5 games, he has made a major contribution to the overall score by maintaining an average of 32 points per game. The other Mavericks know who leads them and they are not afraid of promoting him to the ultimate individual title.

A few hours ago, the Dallas Mavericks’ official X account highlighted their squad sitting on the benches as they arrived at the Kesaya Center for their faceoff against the Miami Heat. Every single one of the players present had donned a T-shirt that read ‘Pravi MVP’. The only exception was Doncic himself. ‘Pravi’ in Slovenian can be translated into many words like genuine, true, or real. By highlighting the words ‘Real MVP’ on their T-shirts in Doncic’s native language, the Mavs roster wasn’t shying away from letting the people know, their choice for this season’s MVP. Luka Doncic has been considered a worthy contender for this season’s MVP title for quite some time now.

Having not won the same even once during his six-year career, the player will have prominent rival scorers like Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jayson Tatum, and Anthony Edwards acting as contending barriers to the road ahead. Fortunately for Doncic, he has the backing of his coach Jason Kidd, who also didn’t hesitate to let his true opinion be known to the rest of the world.

“Game’s too simple, too easy,” said Kidd, as he explained why Doncic isn’t considered the MVP frontrunner. “He (Doncic) makes it look too easy. Unfortunately, that’s what happens with some of the greats … we take for granted their talent.”

Having been present for about 70 regular season matchups till now, Luka Doncic has established an average score of 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game. This is an improvement from his stats from last season, during which he averaged 1.5 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists lesser. According to ABC News, Doncic may reportedly be the first player in NBA history to finish his season with such high stats in all three categories.

Along with his individual stats, the Slovenian has added some accolades to his name during the season as well. Back in January, he became the 7th youngest player to have 3,000 all-time assists. Furthermore, he joined the same rank as LeBron James by becoming the second NBA player to record 10,000 points, 3,000 rebounds, and 3,000 assists before age 25. His consistent performance has allowed him to rank as the 314 All-Time Scorer in just 6 years. At this rate, it won’t take him long to go even higher and leave some of the NBA greats behind in the dust.

The MVP selection ballots will be voted upon by a chosen panel of reporters and NBA broadcasters sometime next week. While expectations are high for Nikola Jokic to take home the title, only time will tell whether the media members will choose to place their confidence in Luka Doncic this time around.
