Anthony Davis and his role in the Lakers franchise

There is no questioning the importance of an athlete of AD’s caliber. The 30-year-old has been a key player for the Lakers for over four years. Now, with the age factor playing in, more than ever for LeBron James, Davis’s role in the team will hold even more value. The 38-year-old has been the face of the franchise, but if he wishes to take a backseat from this season, it will be understandable for all fans. This upcoming season will be AD’s chance to step up for his team, but from what position will he take the team to its glory?

On paper, he is a forward; however, it is extremely common to see the 8x All-Star take up a more center role. When asked about his position recently, Davis said: “Sh*t, who knows, I?m still trying to figure it out.” Although he’s listed as a forward, he started last season as a center in 54 regular season games. He had recently said that during training sessions, he saw newcomers like Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood “doing a good job” playing center. So, moving on into the new season, we might see Davis returning to his roots, playing forward.
