From video coordinator to head coach: Brain Keefe’s inspiring NBA journey

NBA is a dream that many cannot achieve or leave in the middle. Brian Keefe may sound just like that. His journey in the NBA started not as a player or assistant coach but as a video coordinator with the San Antonio Spurs. In 2007, his real story began when Sam Presti and PJ Carlesimo recruited him to help build the Thunder from the ground up. When he joined, they were still the Seattle SuperSonics. He had to work on developing the young team’s future superstars—Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden.

In 2010, he was promoted to be the defensive coordinator, and after seven successful years in Oklahoma City, he then moved on to the New York Knicks in 2014.
