The NBA fans know Giannis Antetokounmpo as an absolute beast on the court. However, when he goes back home, the Greek Freak sheds everything by the door and proudly takes on the role of a husband and father. He shares three beautiful children with his fiancee Mariah Riddlesprigger. The two declared their engagement last year in September soon after announcing the birth of their daughter Eva Brooke. Eva was welcomed by two older brothers, Liam, 4, and Maverick Shai, 2.

Before becoming a father, Giannis was a 6’11” man who only knew how to hoop. Taking on this responsibility was something foreign for the 8X NBA All-Star. However, his fiancee Mariah admits that he gracefully fit into his role, although at times it was terrifying for her.

Giannis did not know how to change a diaper

In the recently released documentary ‘Giannis: The Marvelous Journey‘ (2024), Mariah gives us a sneak peek into Giannis’ journey of fatherhood. She especially brings up an incident where they went to a birthing class before their first child was born. During one of these sessions, Giannis, full of curiosity and eagerness to learn had asked, “Yeah, how do you change a diaper?” Mariah admits that it was at this moment she knew she was in “trouble” because it was clear that Giannis had zero knowledge when it came to that.

Giannis has come a long way since then. Mariah also mentions how she would complain about Giannis buying too many toys for their kids. Later she realized where he was coming from. Mariah says, “I didn’t have a single toy when I was a kid and it just like broke my heart, but at the same time, it makes sense, like why he works so hard to give our kids whatever they want.”

Who is Mariah Riddlesprigger?

Mariah was born in Fresno, California on 17th September 1992. In 2014, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Mariah graduated from Rice University in Texas with a degree in Sociology and Sport Management. She played volleyball and went on to win many titles. She would later go on to have her own ties with the NBA. Mariah was a basketball operations intern with the Sixers.

Currently, she owns and manages her clothing line which was launched in May 2021. It is a line of loungewear that was inspired by the multiple people she met in her life who left an impact on her. It is unclear when Giannis and Mariah started dating but some sources date it back to the 2010s. Together, the couple has been part of many charitable initiatives over the years.
