Serbia is aiming for Gold. Of course, there’re no easy games left now. With just 2 more games to the ultimate matchup, Serbia needs to brace itself against the dominant Dream Team 2.0 led by LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and others. So without a doubt, they need to rely on their star forward, Nikola Jovic, for the same. As he sat out against their last game against Australia, is he wearing the Serbian jersey tonight?

Well, the team’s Head Coach, Svetislav Pešić, has some encouraging news. Nikola Jovic will likely represent Serbia in tonight’s game against the USA.
“Nikola Jovic is [feeling] better. We hope that he will be able to practice with the team tomorrow. Vanja Marinković had some problems after the game. He was not feeling well. He’s better today,” Pesic said.

And his update continued: “The question would’ve been if he could play today. But 15 minutes ago, he informed me that he was fine”.
Even though Serbia was able to clinch a prominent victory against Australia without Jovic, 95-90, tonight is the biggest match they’ll face in this year’s Olympics journey. They will not just need to play better, they will need everyone on their A-game in this do-or-die game against the US. So Jovic showing up to support his team is great news for them.

The Serbians are not afraid of Team USA, per Svetislav Pešić
Even though Team USA had a dominant win over Serbia (110-84) when they faced off for the first time in the Olympics, Serbia’s head coach seems to be confident in the abilities of their team.
“We’re playing against an exceptional team, the best in the history of national team basketball, to me. The Americans no longer present only that exceptional individual quality, they have meanwhile grown as a team. We respect that, but we also respect ourselves. And we are not afraid. We want to play a good game,” Pesic told media.

Apart from their loss against Team USA, the Serbians have not lost to any other team. Having won against Australia in the quarterfinals, Serbia seems to be confident in their abilities going against the formidable team USA.

Pesic has plans to tackle the Dream Team 2.0. His focus is on their game first, rather than being concerned about the enemy side. “We’re not issuing a threat. We have no right to threaten (anybody) now, we’re aware of who we’re playing against,” said Pesic.
