Apart from the loss against the Denver Nuggets, the Dallas Mavericks have had a perfect start to their season. The franchise leader Luka Doncic continued from where he left off from last season, leading the offence of the team. Following the comfortable Monday night victory against the Orlando Magic, the star was seen cheering his former teammate Dirk Nowitzki from the stands for a unique occasion.

Doncic had the opportunity to play alongside the Mavs legend for a season and, since then, they have developed a great bond. The 7-foot legend often sat on the courtside, cheering Luka and his men. However, on this occasion, the roles have reversed. The 45-year-old got back in action while the current franchise leader cheered from the stands. Importantly, it’s an entirely different ball game.

There couldn’t have been a better example to prove the bond and respect Doncic shares for Nowitzki. After the Monday night game against the Magic, Luka addressed the press. While talking about Dirk, he said, “I was lucky enough to play with him one season. The things he has done for Dallas are unbelievable, not just as a player but as a person as well. I think he should be a role model for every player in the league.” He further went on to talk about coach Jason Kidd’s role, playing alongside the legend in the Mavericks’ dream run to the 2011 championship.
