The NBA has a long-standing relationship with golf. This has been established over the years and some of our most celebrated athletes have tried their hand on the greens. NBA athletes have also experienced some major success on a golf course as well. Most notable of which is Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Chef Curry has time and again proven that he can cook up a success story outside the hardwood as well. Continuing the legacy, the 28-year-old NBA star recently achieved a major feat in this field. He has successfully raised over $10 million and that too, without involving some of the greatest names in the world of sports.

The NBA and golf have joined forces for decades now. Arguably the biggest name in basketball history, Michael Jordan is an ardent golf fan. Jordan’s love for the sport knows no limit and living up to that, he even has his own golf course with state-of-the-art technology and amenities at service. Although, getting there is no easy feat. Only a select handful of individuals are allowed to be there. However, another 28-year-old star from the Chicago Bulls has been making a lot of good noise in the business.

Zach LaVine of the Bulls recently raised $10 million from Verance Capital. LaVine owns a Club and apparel startup named Swag Golf and he has recently bagged a $10 million round. What’s even more impressive about this feat is that the young baller has done it all by himself. The 2x All-Star is a massive golf fan as well and he recently competed in the American Century Championship. However, it is worth noting that LaVine has shown no interest in joining the TGL.

Golf maestro Tiger Woods is the owner of the TGL league whereas the tennis legend Serena Williams co-owns a team in the same league.

The NBA’s masters at golf

There are numerous stories told by various individuals highlighting the passion Jordan has for golf. Continuing the tradition, some other big names like Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Dwyane Wade are also heavily involved in the sport. However, the biggest golf success to come out of the NBA has to be Curry himself. From securing hole-in-ones to winning the American Century Championship, Curry has made his mark on the greens for sure.

While there is much more cross-sports action to come from these hardwood legends, LaVine’s $10 million round may just be the indicator of good times ahead.
