The debut of X-Men ’97 coinciding with the upcoming theatrical releases of Deadpool & Wolverine, promises an exciting year for X-Men enthusiasts. No wonder AD and LBJ can’t wait for it. Over three decades since the premiere of the original X-Men: The Animated Series, X-Men ’97 is now available on Disney Plus. Marvel has been teasing fans with glimpses of the new show, ensuring it retains its predecessor’s nostalgic ’90s feel and 2D charm.

Initially announced in 2021, the show is helmed by the recently ousted Beau DeMayo as the showrunner and head writer. Drawing inspiration from the comics, the revival brings back many voice actors from the original series, alongside fresh faces and a mysterious character portrayed by Theo James.

Will LeBron James get a flavor of the Old X-Men in the new show?

The Animated Series concluded with a gripping finale. Henry Gyrich utilized a weapon against Professor X, intensifying his telepathic powers to the extent of inducing a coma. This incident exposed superhumans to the world, with Magneto poised to initiate a conflict against humans as Professor X’s life hung in the balance.

While X-Men ’97 is a standalone series, it picks up the narrative from the 1997 finale, ensuring viewers remain immersed in that era. Marvel’s VP of animation, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, explains that the show honors the original series while offering a fresh perspective, appealing to fans of all ages. So, for LBJ, it’s back to his childhood in Akron, Ohio. Will you be tuning in as well? Let us know in the comments.
