Ja Morant has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. After receiving an eight-game suspension for flashing a firearm on an Instagram live video, he repeated his off-court antics once again. This time, he was suspended for 25 games after a video of him holding a handgun resurfaced. This whole ordeal cost him over $7.5 million in earnings. As per the Memphis Grizzlies’ sources, his father, Tee Morant, is to blame for his son’s bad decisions. His father got into a verbal altercation with Shannon Sharpe and also argued with the Pacers bench during a home game. This behavior did not sit well with the Grizzlies, who reportedly regard him as the ‘driving force’ behind Ja’s poor conduct.

Ja Morant taking steps in the right direction

Morant was touted as a rising star when he first entered the NBA. However, his off-court activities over the last season have hindered his growth in the league. The Grizzlies are holding practice sessions with him so that he is ready to step on the court as soon as his suspension comes to an end.

He has been quiet ever since his suspension and according to Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman, Ja is showing signs of progress. Klieman stated, “I would again just say I think he’s taking meaningful, healthy, positive steps in the right direction. We’re going to continue to give him the structure to be able to follow through on that, and we can’t wait to have him back.”
