Klay Thompson is not performing at his best right now. Apart from other aspects, Klay has failed to be the efficient shooter he has shown he can be throughout his career. His average has been on a decline ever since, and he got himself ejected from a match where Steph Curry was not playing. He’s averaging numbers that he hasn’t hit since his rookie season as well as a career-low in three-point percentage.

Talking about his and the Dubs’ form in the media interaction, the reporters asked him some questions. You will be surprised to know how Klay Thompson reacted to that.

The Golden State Warriors are sitting at the tenth position in the Western Conference tables. Coach Steve Kerr was not mad at this situation though, and he spoke about keeping patience and trusted his boys to do the same. They did win a championship in 2022 with largely the same core set of players. A reporter brought this to Klay and asked how he values Kerr’s patience. Klay reacted to this in a strange manner and replied, “What, do you want to bench me?” He further adds that history is on their side when they are speaking about stuff like patience. Klay also mentioned that he does not care what people say, because they cannot necessarily do things, that he or his teammates can.

People were a bit taken aback by this reaction, as usual. Gone are the times when Thompson was regularly scoring in 30s. He barely gets past half that point now. Is this a reason why he was frustrated? There is a possibility. Apart from that, he also missed out on certain games due to right knee soreness.

Thompson leashing out unnecessary aggression against the Timberwolves

One of the most talked about matches of this season was when the Warriors faced the Wolves in the in-season group stages. Both Klay and Draymond Green were ejected within 2 minutes of the match and were later fined heavily. Steph Curry’s splash brother pulled Wolves’ Jaden McDaniels’ shirt. A fight erupted from that, and we suddenly saw Draymond Green entering the scene and pulling away Rudy Gobert in a chokehold.

Klay presents a very different face on the court than Steph Curry does. Very vocal and outspoken, Thompson doesn’t shy away from wearing his emotions on his sleeve. While this has served him well in the past, it doesn’t seem to be going his way right now.
