At 7-foot-4, and weighing 305 lbs, Zach Edey is quite the presence on the court. Looking at him you wouldn’t be able to tell he’s only 22 given his imposing stature. But it seems he was destined to be a hoopster. That’s because his mother, standing at 6-foot-3 herself, was a former ice hockey, baseball, and basketball player. His father also played baseball. Edey started playing basketball in the 10th grade, following in his mother’s footsteps.

After moving to America and joining the IMG Academy in Florida, Edey started working with former NBA player Daniel Santiago to hone his skills. In 2020, he committed to playing college basketball for Purdue, turning down the likes of Baylor and Santa Clara. After concluding his college career, Edey was picked in the 2024 NBA Draft as the ninth overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies. But what contract did he sign to join the Grizzlies? Let’s find out.

What is Zach Edey’s contract with the Memphis Grizzlies?
Zach Edey signed his rookie contract with the Grizzlies on July 6, 2024. He signed a deal worth $26,202,577 that will pay out over 4 years. This contract includes a guaranteed sum of $11,801,880 and an average annual salary of $6,550,644. This is quite a huge sum for a rookie contract in the NBA. For the 2024/25 season, Edey will receive $5,756,880, carrying a cap hit of $5,756,880 and a dead cap value of the same amount. His contract has a team option clause in the last 2 two years. This means Edey could be a restricted free agent as early as the 2026/27 season. However, if the team ends up activating the clauses, he will remain at the Grizzlies till the 2028/29 season.

Who is Zach Edey’s agent in the NBA?
Getting signed to the NBA can be quite an overwhelming process. And doubly so for a young adult, barely out of college. This is probably why before the 2024 NBA Draft, Zach Edey signed with a management team. But he didn’t just sign with any random management agency. Edey signed with Priority Sports, an agency that specializes in representing professional basketball players and footballers.
