The Bulls (5-14) had a fairly good start to the season, but we can’t say the same for how they are faring currently. They have been on a five-game losing streak, the most recent one being the devastating 124-97 loss to the Celtics on Tuesday. In the midst of finding a solid footing, some names have popped up as possible trade options for the struggling Bulls.

The team is now looking into roster restructuring following the consistently poor performance. In this regard, the 2023-24 season trade has thrown Chicago’s Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan into the frenzy of trade rumors. According to NBA executives, these two names are top trade candidates for the Bulls this season. Let us dive deeper.

There have been talks about major changes in the team, and Zach LaVine has found himself in the midst of trade rumors. Sources say that the 2X NBA All-Star and the Bulls are actively amenable to a trade deal. An NBA Executive said about the LaVine situation, “I think Zach LaVine can get a first back, maybe another first-round pick if it’s in this draft since it’s so weak.” LaVine’s name has been chosen for the Sixers, Heat, and Lakers, with the Knicks showing some interest.

On the same boat is DeMar DeRozan, who will be a free agent without restrictions by the summer of 2024. In the same statement, the Executive said that the 34-year-old DeRozan is “worth a first in this draft in the 20s since it’s a weak draft, and he’s unrestricted at the end of the season. He can be a third scorer on a winning team. I think he’s got some gas left in the tank.”

Although he would not yield as much in a trade, Nikola Vucevic is still considered a valuable player. On the other hand, Alex Caruso, with his rep for being a strong defensive player, is drawing interest. The Bulls could potentially receive two first-round picks in exchange, according to the same source. Patrick Williams’ future is uncertain, and negotiations for a contract before the season started didn’t go well.

For now, let’s put it this way: the Bulls are in a rocky situation. And some important players may be traded in an attempt to strengthen the core. However, it appears like they are not actively interested in a total rebuild, but are in search of valuable players. Well, at the end of the day, rumors are just that- rumors, until they are actually acted upon. All we can do now is sit back and see what happens as the season unfolds.
