Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympic gold medalist, threw out the first ceremonial pitch and made the headlines. Well, Durant also hit the tabloids back in April when he put on a ‘Corbin-Carrol‘ jersey at a D-backs game. There are many reasons why these celebrities showed up. With Kevin Durant making a pitch to support the hometown local team and Phelp’s coach now training the swim team at Arizona State University, the appearance was somewhat foreseen.
