The All-Star weekend broke barriers. Saturday night featured three of the NBA’s hallmark events – The Dunk Contest, the Three Point shooting contest, and the most unique of them all Stephen Curry vs Sabrina Ionescu. The unprecedented event pitted the NBA’s greatest shooter against the record-breaking Ionescu, who scored 37 in the shooting contest last season.

She challenged her range by deciding to shoot right beside Curry, from the NBA line. Her groundbreaking performance was majestic. It paved the way for the future. It also forever changed the way women’s basketball will be looked at. It proved once and for all that there are no limits to them.

Number three-ranked tennis single’s player Coco Gauff felt the same.

Coco Gauff claims Ionescu vs Stephen Curry was humbling

There has always been a constant conversation about how WNBA players can’t do the things NBA stars can do. They have smaller balls, their three-point line is further up and their athleticism doesn’t scratch the surface of the NBA. The new age is here to kill these arguments. Ionescu might be the beacon.

Competing at the Dubai Tennis Championship, Coco Gauff was asked about Ionescu’s performance. While she didn’t watch all the festivities, she claimed the New York Liberty guard proved by the debate was always “silly”. She cited her final score of 26 as the reason. It was the same score as Damian Lillard, who won the three-point contest. After watching Ionescu change the equality conversation, she is hoping to see more of such crossovers in the future.

“I just hope they continue to do this. It just humbles a lot of men in the world. I really like that. Especially basketball, that type of competition, it’s something physicality doesn’t always matter. I think that’s what makes it cool,” said Gauff according to Asap Text.

What Sabrina Ionescu achieved against Stephen Curry was revolutionary. It transcended the bounds set on women’s basketball. They might not match the athleticism, however, in terms of skill, the walls are being broken down. There are rumors that a similar contest will be held again, this time with a pair.
