The Golden State Warriors made a glorious comeback with a 121-115 win against the Orlando Magic after dropping their last three. However, they are still 2.5 wins shy of a playoff spot. Amid these challenging times, Chris Paul‘s enhanced shooting efficiency has offered a glimmer of hope. Even though Chris Paul is one of the best traditional point guards in NBA history, his transition to the new team wasn’t seamless. He had a frigid start to the season, going 0-11 from the deep in the first three games. He began his journey with the Warriors on a mere 31.8% shooting from the field and a dismal 7.7% from downtown.

However, he seems to have broken out of his early shooting slump to start the new year. In a recent press conference, he opened up about his horrid shooting efficiency at the beginning of the 2023–24 season.

During the Warriors’ win against the Orlando Magic, ‘Point God’ finished the game with 12 points, two rebounds, and four assists. However, he made all three shots from deep and converted three of his five attempts from the floor. After the game, he was asked how much his shooting had improved compared to the star of the season. “It ain’t ever felt bad. I’ve been a shooter my whole life. If it don’t go in, still you gotta keep shooting,” said Paul.

Paul has made 13 of his 21 attempted threes in the past four games, improving his season percentage from deep to 35.7 percent. His field goal percentage has also seen a marked improvement, as he is currently shooting 41.6 percent from the floor.

The Warriors seem to be back on course

The Golden State had a disastrous start to the season. However, they displayed flashes of being a playoff-contending team, winning five back-to-back games before hitting a slump once again. However, Tuesday night’s game was a welcome change. All five starters posted double-digits for the first time this season. Stephen Curry also broke out of his mini-slump, erupting for a solid 35 points, his most in a few weeks. Despite first-quarter foul trouble, Klay Thompson mustered up 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists in 25 minutes, even dunking for the first time this season.

As for their defensive anchor, Draymond Green, this was the tenth game he missed post-suspension. There is still no clarity on when he will take the court again. According to Steve Kerr, he hasn’t been in the training facility, but they have been communicating through text. “We’ve been giving him his space, he’s been giving us ours,” Kerr said.
