In the game against Karolina Pliskova, Gauff’s dispute lasted for over four minutes. The disagreement arose when Bacchi made a late ‘out’ call on Gauff’s first serve in the second set. Frustrated by the call, Gauff sought to speak with the tour supervisor, but Bacchi repeatedly denied her access. Soon, “fueled” by the incident, Gauff made a comeback and secured the win.

While Coco asserted herself, Jimmy Butler had his ejection coming from a distance. The incident unfolded when Kevin Love intervened, grabbing Zion Williamson to stop an uncontested layup. However, Williamson tumbled to the court, inviting Marshall to quickly object to the nature of the foul.

In response, Butler confronted Marshall, instigating an unsportsmanlike physical contact near Marshall’s throat. This action invited retaliation, a brief chokehold by the Pelicans player, and prompting teammates and coaches to swarm the scene.

Coach Spo backed up his crew after the brawl

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, while expressing his disapproval of such incidents, acknowledged his team’s appropriate response to the scenario. He stated, “Once it was all done, the response was appropriate – discipline, physicality, force, but not going over the top.” Moreover, Spoelstra characterized the play against Zion as a misunderstanding, highlighting Kevin Love’s assistance in helping Zion get up after the fall.

Following the commotion, officials spent several minutes reviewing footage from the altercations before deciding on the ejections. Tensions ran high among players, coaches, and even the fans in the arena.

In the aftermath, fans from both teams were also removed from the arena. A Pelicans fan was caught throwing objects at Heat players during the scuffle. Additionally, a Miami fan was ejected due to the failure to maintain an expected demeanor.
