It’s been 2 weeks since Ja Morant has returned to the NBA Court after serving a 25-game suspension. Yet the strings of controversies have seemed to get a good grip on him even now. This time, though, the Grizzlies star isn’t directly related to the problem, instead was widely regarded as a victim.

While facing the New Orleans Pelicans last week, Ja got a little excited and celebrated his dunk with the “Rock Ya Hips” dance, which originated from the NBA star’s college days in Louisiana. Unaware of the Ja’s history with the celebration, the dance garnered criticism online for being misinterpreted as a gun celebration. Prominent media company Barstool Sports re-shared the celebration with the caption, “Ja spraying imaginary bullets into section 113 after the slam”.

The controversial celebration was re-enacted by Texas Longhorns’ Quinn Ewers during their game against Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl. Though Barstool reshared the celebration as they did with the Grizzlies star, the caption was largely different, “Quinn Ewers is having fun”. Morant’s good friend Angel Reese and ex-NFL star Antonio Brown reacted quickly to this double standard.

Reese quoted the post with “Lol I’ve seen this before”, referring to her own problems with media outlets

Controversial NFL Star Antonio Brown also divulged his cryptic thoughts by saying, “Crackheads”. While the caption may have upset many users on X, Ja Morant also had his say over Ewers’ trending celebration.

Ja has one Emoji reaction to Barstool’s Tweet

While viral tweets grew out of proportion over social media, the Grizzlies star also shared his thoughts. Ja Morant responded to the tweet with a laughing emoji. While the reaction was directed more towards Longhorns’ star Quinn Ewers‘ identical “Rock Ya Hips” dance move, the 24-year-old didn’t have much to say about the difference in Barstool Sports’ caption.
