After being waived by the Golden State Warriors in October, Seth Curry‘s journey has turned into a patience test for many. Though the plan has always been to bring him back once the numbers work, it still appears that all Curry could do right now is grind behind the scenes. He was expected to return early in the regular season, probably in November, but has been waiting for his moment. Even when head coach Steve Kerr was asked about his return, he was silent as a vault.

“I don’t know. So I’m not going to comment on it,” Kerr appeared sealed shut when asked about Seth Curry’s probable return on the
95.7 The Game podcast.Though the Warriors moved from Curry with an intention to re-sign him, that doesn’t seem to be near. At 35 years of age, the shooting guard was expected to be united with his older brother, but that dream lasted for merely three weeks.
The Dubs signed Seth to a one-year, $3,634,153 deal, but they had only around $2 million in cap space before hitting the second apron. But this restriction was only until November, and they were expected to re-acquire him. His performance is a perfect reminder of why they shouldn’t let players like him slip away.

Last season with the Hornets, Seth quietly put together a super-efficient campaign.
He averaged 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.9 assists while shooting 47.8% from the field. These numbers scream “elite,” but still, it appears the Golden State is ready to shift gears and move away from its reliable players. After pulling out Seth Curry and
LJ Cryer, the Dubs still have 17 players on their roster. So, it is expected that there will be some departures. But what came as the most shocking was the report that cutting down on Jonathan Kuminga was under consideration. Is Golden State about to cut ties with its young forward?
“Coming into this season, the fate of Jonathan Kuminga was a key storyline to watch for the Golden State Warriors. After he was recently benched by head coach Steve Kerr, it seems the franchise now has a clear decision when it comes to their young forward,” Blue Man Hoop’s Nick San Miguel wrote Sunday. “As Kuminga started to struggle, so too did the Warriors begin to look worse and worse. Part of this had to do with Stephen Curry missing some games due to illness, but Kuminga’s poor play was difficult to ignore.”
With Kuminga sitting out of the rotation and the Warriors rolling on all fronts with the basketball, the rumors about the 23-year-old losing his spot are not just whispers anymore. Trade rumors are already swirling, linking him to teams like the 76ers, Kings, and Bulls, leaving Dub Nation buzzing about what could be next for the young forward. It now appears that they have finally moved on from their financial instability, and it is just about keeping the roster packed with veterans.
They aren’t hurting for cash now. The franchise is valued at around $1.2 billion despite an 18% dip in brand value from last year. This has left many fans scratching their heads, wondering why they would let go while also passing up the chance to bring back talented players.
