Former Warriors Star Gets Honest Regarding Importance of NBA Finals 2022 to Stephen Curry’s Legacy

The Golden State Warriors had an embarrassing defeat against the Boston Celtics in the first match of the NBA Finals. A lot of questions were raised about the whole Warriors team, especially Stephen Curry.

Sadly, he failed to deliver the performance that was expected of him. Amidst the current situation, former Warriors star Jeremy Lin had something to say about Stephen Curry. 

Jeremy Lin had been on the Warriors roster for a while in the past. He expressed that he really hopes Curry gets the Final MVP trophy, but him not getting one would not matter much. Lin tweeted,  I hope Steph Curry wins the championship and finals MVP. But make no mistake about it, he does NOT need a finals MVP to validate his career by any means”

Jeremy Lin and his Warriors’ career 

Lin enjoyed a good stint during his career with the Warriors. He joined them in 2010-11, before going on to win his lone NBA title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, incidently, against the Warriors.

He has played with Steph and is very well aware of the latter’s mindset. Lin voiced his support for the Warriors star yet put the point that Curry doesn’t have anything to prove.

Stephen Curry and his love-hate relationship with Finals MVP

Stephen Curry has three rings but zero Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy. Kevin Durant won the 2017 and 2018 FMVP. Many people believe that there is no debate and that Durant was the deserving recipient.

Although, there are multiple arguments around the 2015 FMVP trophy. Many fans believe that he was robbed of it. He averaged 35.8 points in the finals series along with 13.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists. It was Andre Iguodala who was awarded the trophy over Curry in the 2015 season.

Curry has had multiple achievements throughout his whole career and a Finals MVP trophy would just be an addition to it. It would be fun to watch if he could bounce back in Game 2 with rest of the Warriors or not.
