Jacques Vaughn had quite a few complaints regarding the refs’ officiating during the previous faceoff and Game 2 was no different. After losing Game 1 by 121-101, Vaughn subtly hinted that the refs’ decisions were made in favor of Joel Embiid. During the post-game media conference, he said, “Hopefully, they?ll be calling a travel and three seconds on the big fella [Embiid] next game, so I?ll look forward to that.”

After fans witnessed Vaughn lose his cool during the recent game, Embiid had a few words of his own to say. As per the short clip shared by Rich Hofmann of The Athletic, Embiid compared Vaughn to Nick Nurse.

He said, “I saw after the game last time, they kinda took the Nick Nurse route of begging for free throws and calling out the referees. And they did come out and they got a lot of calls, which I guess is good for them.”

Embiid calls out Nick Nurse

The Sixers center made the comparison a year after he got into hot waters with Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse. Embiid’s team faced the Raptors in the 2022 playoffs. During the last few mins of Game 2, fans witnessed Embiid talking to Nurse on the sidelines after he heard the Raptors coach complaining about the refs officiating.
