On Sunday night, the 2022 Black Entertainment Television or BET Awards were revealed. They are supposed to celebrate the achievements and performances of the African American community. This year, Stephen Curry won the sportsman and Naomi Osaka won the sportswoman award for the year. Generally, the players receive praise for their achievements. This year it was a bit different as fans were more interested in questioning the decision to award Naomi Osaka than celebrating her or even Curry’s victory.

The Warriors’ star player is no doubt deserving of this award for his incredible performance throughout the year. It is the felicitation of Osaka that fans have a problem with. A lot of fans believe that the 24-year-old tennis star did not contribute enough to deserve the win.

The career graphs of both the winners have been very different this year. Stephen Curry won his fourth ring, finals MVP and even All-star MVP this year. On the other hand, Naomi has withdrawn from multiple championships due to injuries. Fans were baffled by Naomi winning an award despite her limited presence on the tour this season.
