Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant is one of the most successful athletes of the past decade. However, there’s something that always gives people a reason to hate him. It’s the two-time NBA champion’s online activities! KD has had burner accounts in the past which were used to defend his performances on Twitter. Eminent NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith is one of the most authentic and domineering voices who have criticized Durant’s burner accounts.

Just days after he said a painful goodbye to some of his colleagues at ESPN, the veteran analyst went on a ranting spree on his show, which didn’t end well for KD.

Stephen A. Smith lashes out at Kevin Durant on popular show

Kevin Durant has been widely criticized for his fitness issues over the past few seasons. Smith touched upon that and asserted that he never works less than 300 days a year. “I’m that dude. I put in the hours”, said Smith.

Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg launched Threads, that’s hailed as a direct competitor to Elon Musk’s Twitter. Interestingly, Durant publicly revealed that he already has a burner account on Threads!

This didn’t sit well with Smith. On ‘First Take’, the $20 million worth analyst bashed Durant. He also revealed that he doesn’t have a burner account, nor has he ever thought of creating one.

“What I’m trying to say to you is even putting in the hours, it don’t stop me from having the ‘Stephen A. Smith Podcast.’ That’s even more trouble that I could potentially get into. I don’t give a damn. Here’s the point I’m trying to make. If you’re gonna say something, stand on it”, said Smith.

He was implying that superstars like Durant don’t need to hide behind the safety of a burner account. This isn’t the first time Smith and Durant have gone to war with words. Last year, the 2014 NBA MVP feuded with Smith on Twitter when he was criticized on live television.

Eminent names like Jeff Van Gundy and Jalen Rose have lost their jobs at ESPN recently. Enraged fans have time and again brought up Smith’s name because of his high salary. ESPN noted all of this criticism, addressing everything in an apt manner.

Ladies and gentlemen, we got a few people at ESPN getting paid more than me. They don’t have the number one show, they don’t have the top ratings, they don’t generate more revenue. How come ya’ll didn’t bring their names out?”, said Smith in a video released on social media platforms. 

Before making this eye-opening revelation, Smith had asserted that he was directly addressing all his haters and the ‘wannabe media’.
