Four-time NBA champion LeBron James has had an exceptional career in the NBA spanning over two decades. However, the future NBA Hall of Famer couldn’t have done it alone. His wife, Savannah James, was beside him all this while, and she played an important role in his life. The two have been together for a very long time. They initially started dating in high school and are now proud parents of three kids.

Despite dating for so long, it seems like even the ever so ‘confident’ LeBron was scared of popping the most important question of his life, as revealed in an old interview with Oprah Winfrey.

LeBron James struggled to find courage before proposing to Savannah

King James and Savannah tied the knot in 2013. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar played for the Miami Heat back then. Alongside, he had Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, who received a special message from LeBron, and Chris Bosh beside him.

They were at a New Year’s party and James planned on proposing as soon as the clock struck midnight. However, even James, who plays in front of millions of people, felt very nervous.

“I had D Wade hold the ring for me all night because I didn’t want her to bump up against me and feel the ring. I asked him [for the ring] right after the ball dropped and he was like, “You ready?” and I said, “If you don’t give me this ring right now, I ain’t gonna to do it”, revealed the 19-time NBA All-Star according to sources.

He finally found the courage and popped the magical four word question, ‘will you marry me?’ Savannah said yes and the couple has been married for a decade now.

Being nervous was odd for the ‘confident’ LeBron

The NBA’s All-Time Leading Top Scorer has performed at the highest level in front of millions of fans watching worldwide. Even before one of his biggest games during the 2015 NBA Finals, James was calm.

“I feel confident because I’m the best player in the world. It’s that simple”, said James after Game 5 of the 2015 Finals when his team trailed 3-2 against Stephen Curry and co. Despite having all the experience of performing at the highest level for years, James still lost his composure in asking a simple four word question!
