Paul George Urged To Become “Vocal” Leader for the Clippers Before “Break-Up” With Kawhi Leonard

It’s time for the leader to do his thing and speak up for the team. Amidst the Clippers’ inability to win since the James Harden acquisition, there is a dire need for someone to bring the Clippers out of a downward spiral. Who better than the vocal leader of the Clippers, Paul George?

Former Bulls player Jay Williams expressed concerns over James Harden‘s performance for the Clippers since joining and the need for someone in the team to initiate the conversation on it.

In a recent episode of the ESPN morning show, “GetUp”, Mike Greenberg was joined by the former Bulls player, Jay Williams, to discuss the current Clippers’ situation with James Harden. On being asked about who can speak about it with the team, Williams expressed his strong expectations from Paul. “I think it has to be Paul,” he said. “Frankly, I think he is probably the most vocal out of them”.

The Clippers have been 0-5 since the team acquired Harden on November 1. Harden seems to be having a hard time fitting in with the team and it hasn’t been hidden from anyone. There seems to be a lack of understanding with his teammates that is leading to one of the worst performances coming out of the Clippers.

With a clear lack of role definition in the team, expectations lie with Paul to stop this disaster. The 7× NBA All-Star is known to be direct and vocal with his teammates. With the rumors surrounding his break up from Kawhi Leonard, maybe it’s time he takes this matter upon himself.

The Clippers are gauging the breakup of the core duo

The NBA Insider, Marc Stein, reported back in June that the Clippers are considering breaking up the duo, Paul and Leonard in an attempt to gauge Paul’s trade value. There might not be a trade deal incoming, but there is a clear intention of the team intending to split up the duo.

Leonard and Paul have shared a great relationship since 2019 on and off the court. They have led the team to great victories, including the first Western Conference Final series in 2021. However, both the players have been suffering injuries, thus, not being able to reach their full potential. The two have been available for just 38% of games of the regular season and 65% of the playoffs.

However, with the Clippers’ constant disappointing performances on the court, the team might have to rethink losing the core duo.
