The San Antonio Spurs fandom is looking forward to the future with great optimism. After some heartbreaking seasons in the NBA, the team is finally looking good. Not only did the Spurs land 7’4 French wonder kid, Victor Wembanyama, but they have also renewed legendary coach Gregg Popovich’s contract. Following this, many eminent voices from across the NBA world have given their congratulations to the veteran coach. Four-time NBA champion LeBron James had a few words, too.

Taking to Twitter, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar wished Coach Pop for the massive deal. Moreover, his words have fans wondering whether he would work under the coach in the future.

LeBron James wishes Coach Pop on the largest coach deal 

Former Phoenix Suns coach Monty Williams was fired right after the 2023 playoffs following their disappointing exit. He was then signed by the Detroit Pistons, who offered him a massive $78.5 million deal. This was the largest contract offered to a coach in NBA history.

Williams could not hold on to his throne for too long. The Spurs offered Pop a five-year, $80 million deal, which now makes him the highest-earning coach in the league.

Taking to Twitter, LeBron was nothing but happy for Pop. Interestingly, he seemingly invited himself to dinner, which would be paid for by Pop to celebrate the historic occasion. 

“POP!!!!!! Congrats on the new deal. Next wine dinner on you”, wrote James on Twitter. LeBron and Pop’s Spurs have had numerous battles on the basketball court. 

In fact, the Spurs have gotten the better of King James in two NBA finals in 2007 and 2014. It seems like the two NBA veterans have left their history in the past and have nothing but mutual admiration.

Fans react to James’ special message for Pop

James’ congratulatory message on Twitter has instantly gained traction on the platform. In fact, fans speculate that the NBA legend might join the Spurs along with his superstar 18-year-old son in the near future. There are many other interesting reactions coming in.
