Bulls Legend Scottie Pippen Makes Rare Appearance in Roger Federer’s Tribute by Australian Nick Kyrgios

The whole sporting world has come to a standstill as two of the greatest tennis players of all time recently announced their retirements from the game. First Serena Williams and now Roger Federer. We as a generation feel lucky to witness greatness on such a large scale and for so many years. Roger Federer was a pioneer of the game. He has inspired countless people to pick up a racket and start swinging.
Federer was ranked world number 1 for a record 237 consecutive weeks which still remains unbroken. He was the world number 1 for a total of almost six years. This means he ended his career as the world’s number 1 for 5 consecutive years. Many would regard him as the Michael Jordan of tennis. And surprisingly Federer was recently spotted with Michael’s teammate Scottie Pippen in an old picture that was posted by a fellow tennis professional.

Australian sensation Nick Kyrgios shared a post on his Instagram. He posted 4 pictures in slides in his post. In the 5th and last slide of the post, there was a surprise appearance of Bulls legend Scottie Pippen rocking the gray Nike tracksuit. Kyrgios captioned the post, “no one will ever play the game like you. enjoy it @rogerfederer …… was an honour.”

It is natural that when such a big name hangs his boots and keeps his racket in his cover one last time, the whole tennis world would pay tribute. Many have remembered the great times Roger had and reminisced the brilliant matches the Swiss professional played over the course of his legendary career.

Pippen welcomed the Aussie tennis player and Swiss International to Chicago and the United Center in 2018. Chicago was the home for the Laver Cup at the time. The three posed in front of a glassed cabinet in Scottie’s tweet. Among other pictures, Scottie held six fingers up for his six NBA championships. The glass cabinet behind them had six trophies Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen won together with the Chicago Bulls during the 90s.

Roger Federer won 2 singles during the three day event. One of them was against Nick Kyrgios. Roger did lose two doubles. One point per game format ended with Europe taking 13 points vs 8 for the rest of the world.
