In addition to being an NBA superstar, LeBron James is also succeeding from a business perspective. On June 25, 2020, James’ company raised $100 million from investors, including Elisabeth Murdoch and Guggenheim Partners. LeBron and Maverick Carter used the funding to merge their three companies. The duo had previously founded SpringHill Entertainment, Robot Company, and Uninterrupted. They bought the three businesses under one media house known as SpringHill Company.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and businessmen Maverick Carter founded SpringHill Company in 2020. While James serves as the Chairman of the company, Carter stepped into the role of CEO. Additionally, the board members include Elisabeth Murdoch, Guggenheim chief investment officer Scott Minerd, Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner, and tennis legend Serena Williams. In September 2020, the company signed a four-year deal with Universal pictures. Moreover, after a little more funding in 2021, the company’s value reached a massive amount of $725 million.

Over the years, several series and movies have been released under the SpringHill Company banner. Some of them are – Space Jam: A New Legacy, Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street, and Self Made: Inspired By The Life Of Madam C.J. Walker. However, the most notable work produced by the company would be the documentary film based on boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

LeBron James produces a Muhammad Ali documentary
The two-part documentary film is based on the life of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. News of LeBron James‘ involvement in the project was released in 2016, around the same time the documentary was announced. James said that he was grateful to be able to take part in the project.
“It’s tough to put into words how much it means to me to be a part of this project honoring the legacy and telling the extremely important story of the great Muhammad Ali,” said James.

The idea of making the documentary came in the same year the boxing legend passed away. Ali’s widow, Lonnie Ali said that she was hopeful that the documentary will be able to grasp the attention of the audience and inspire them. Upon its release in 2019, the documentary became a super-hit film. It was well-received by the audiences as well as the critics.
