Michael Jordan has not been able to emulate his success as an athlete in his role as an owner of the NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets, so far. In 2010, Jordan became the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. In 2014, the team name was changed to Hornets, which was used from 1998 to 2002. But success has been hard to come by for the franchise. Many criticized MJ, including close friend Charles Barkley, for the team’s lack of success. This resulted in a beef between the two, and the two have not been on speaking terms ever since.

Barkley recently talked about his beef with Jordan during a recent appearance on the All The Smoke podcast with NBA veterans Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

During the show, Barnes asked whether the two would be friends again. Charles Barkley replied that is in the hands of Michael Jordan. The 2000 NBA MVP then recounted his comments about the five-time NBA MVP’s ownership. He said, “I think I’m fair to everybody. What I said about Michael, I said, ‘I don’t know if he’s ever going to be successful because of the people around him. I think he hires too many of his friends.’”

Despite their beef, the Hall of Famer had no problem reiterating that Jordan’s lack of success was because of the people he hired. He also talked about some of the wrong decisions the franchise had made with draft picks over the years.

But the lack of success did not stop the billionaire from making other investments. In 2020, the six-time NBA champion formed 23XI Racing, a NASCAR team, with Denny Hamlin with an investment of $150 million. Now, many would agree with Barkley about his criticism of Jordan.

The fans are not happy with Jordan’s ownership

Amidst all the festivities around the NBA All-Star weekend, Michael Jordan is busy with his NASCAR team. Furthermore, MLB legend Derek Jeter is all set to join his close friend. According to a tweet from Adam Stern, a Sports Business Journal reporter, @NASCAR set up Michael Jordan with a backstretch hospitality area once again here @Daytona, and one of Jordan’s guest this weekend is @MLB legend @DerekJeter.”

Many fans were excited about this particular piece of news because of the two legends. However, many are unhappy overall with his ownership. Here are some reactions:
